The ancient art and science of pranic healing and arhatic yoga

Are Pranic Healing & Reiki Two Sides of the Same Coin?

Are Pranic Healing & Reiki Two Sides of the Same Coin?

Earlier, the art of healing was looked upon as a rare gift and only the people born with this gift were allowed to practice it. During the 1900s however, there were some “energy masters” who realized the need to spread the knowledge of these healing techniques. They felt that the masses were ready to accept and utilize this knowledge for their benefit and also for the benefit of others. This led to many healing technologies gaining popularity. People started taking interest in Chi Qung, Acupuncture, Pranic Healing & Reiki because it allowed them the opportunity to train themselves, develop their own abilities and ultimately help themselves and others achieve health and happiness.

There are various modalities of energy healing that have been developed over the years in places all over the globe. Though their places of origin are different and varied, ancient energy healing techniques are similar in the sense that they all use a life force (whether it is called “Prana, “Chi” or “Ki”) to energize the patient. Such healing technologies that have stood the test of time include Acupuncture, Chi Kung/Chi Quong, Pranic Healing & Reiki.

What is Pranic Healing?

Pranic Healing is a healing technology that has evolved over the years and has been developed by Master Choa Kok Sui based on his rigorous study of various esoteric sciences. It is essentially a no-touch technology that utilizes “prana” to balance, harmonize and transform the body's energy processes.

What is Reiki?

A healing technique that involves the therapist channeling energy into the patient usually through touch to energize and activate the natural healing abilities of the patient's body and to restore physical, mental and emotional health.

Different Paths to the Same Goal

Pranic Healing & Reiki are thus both healing sciences that involve healing the energy body to deal with the overt manifestations of physical and psychological ailments. Both these schools of healing work in accordance with the belief that our physical bodies actually have 2 parts: the visible physical body and the invisible physical body.

The latter is also known as the aura or the energy body or the bioplasmic body. This serves as a mould for the visible physical body and keeps the visible physical body alive and healthy. Most ancient healing technologies stress on the importance of the energy body and the chakras in the harmonious functioning of our beings. However, the techniques they employ to cleanse and balance the energy body and the chakras vary. Pranic Healing focuses on the 11 major chakras in the body. Acupuncture, on the other hand, deals with minor chakras to restore harmony. Furthermore, Reiki and Faith Healing utilize Divine energy or spiritual energy or Universal energies to heal.

Although all these sciences believe in the existence of the aura or energy body and the chakras, their techniques in keeping the energy body clean and balanced vary. While some of the modalities such as Pranic Healing focus on the major chakras, others such as Acupuncture work on the minor and mini chakras . While modalities such as Reiki and Faith Healing make use of Divine or universal energies, Pranic Healing primarily uses life force or chi to improve health.

Another point of difference between Acupuncture, Pranic Healing & Reiki is that while Reiki and Acupuncture are touch-based, Pranic Healing is a no-touch healing system. Through these different techniques, all these technologies ultimately aim to balance the chakras or energy centers.
